The term "glocalization" emerged in the late 20th century, emphasizing the idea of "think globally, act locally"—that is, promoting local innovation and development by integrating global trends into local contexts. Today, the concept has evolved beyond its initial economic or cultural implications to capture the dynamic interplay between the global and the local. This shift also opens new perspectives for examining the interaction between globalization and locality in the field of crafts.Craftsmanship has undergone multiple transformations in the ongoing negotiation between global and local forces. The Industrial Revolution once led to the functional decline of craft due to mass production. However, cultural revival movements and the rise of modern design have since breathed new life into the craft world, responding to contemporary demands for both function and aesthetics.Chinese and Western crafts have developed along different historical and cultural trajectories, yet both now seek new possibilities within the global context, aiming to balance cultural preservation, innovation, and market demands. The world of crafts remains in a state of constant change—it is not merely a legacy of the past but an ever-evolving cultural form. Its simultaneous rootedness in local production and participation in global circulation is reshaping how we understand and imagine the world. As a representative city of Chinese craftsmanship, Jingdezhen’s Taoxichuan is transitioning from being the “Porcelain Capital” to a “Global Center for Crafts.” Through the development of a rich content ecosystem, it is becoming a global hub for craft learning, creative communities, and cultural tourism. It promotes sustainable growth in craft creation, academic exchange, heritage preservation, and innovative trade. Its active engagement with the global creative industry is forming a new model of cultural commonality.

“全球本地化”一词最早出现在20世纪末，强调在全球视野下进行地方实践，即通过将全球趋势融入本土语境的方式，推动地方性创新与发展。当下，“全球本地化”的内涵已经超越了最初的经济或文化讨论，发展成为一个能够捕捉全球与地方之间动态联系的概念，也为我们探索手工艺的全球化与地方性互动提供新的视角。手工艺在全球化与本土化的交织中经历了多次变革与重塑。工业革命带来的大规模生产曾一度使手工艺面临功能性衰退，但随后，文化复兴与现代设计的介入赋予了其新的生命力，满足了当代社会对功能性与美学的双重需求。中国和西方的手工艺在不同的历史与文化背景下各自演进，虽然路径不同，但两者都在当前全球语境中探索新的可能性，在回应文化保护、创新与市场需求之间找寻平衡。可以说，手工艺的世界始终处于持续而动态的变化中，它不仅仅是历史的遗存，也是一种不断生长的文化形式。它所兼具在地生产与全球流通的特质，正在重新引领我们对世界的理解与想象。景德镇陶溪川作为中国手工艺的代表城市，正在从“陶瓷之都”迈向“世界手工艺中心”。通过搭建丰富的内容生态，发展为世界手工艺的学区、社区和景区，推动手工艺创作、学术交流、传承与创新贸易的可持续发展。景德镇陶溪川与全球创意产业的互动，正在形成一种新的文化共通。

The Global Craft Innovation Forum, themed “Crafting Future,” emphasizes understanding “craft” as a dynamic process—“crafting”—a continuous and transformative practice that bridges the past, present, and future. The forum will convene craft experts, platform and institutional leaders, designers, curators, and artisans from around the world, bringing in cross-cultural and interdisciplinary perspectives. It will center on four key areas: “Global Perspectives and Future Trends in Craft,” “Industrial Transformation and Technological Integration,” “Community and Network Building,” and “Local Culture and Global Synergy.” Crafting Future: The Glocalization of Craft Imagination is not only a process of reflecting on local practices from a global perspective or rethinking craft as heritage from the past—it also envisions craft as a collective aspiration and a framework for innovative applications in future societies. The forum will explore a wide range of issues: How can the revival of craft reactivate its philosophy of making and its spiritual heritage to generate new cultural imaginaries? Amid the interplay of global capital, technology, and design, how can craft retain its local specificity and cultural uniqueness while positioning itself in the global marketplace? How do digital technology and industrial transformation influence the essence of craft, and can they serve as drivers of renewed vitality? How can craft integrate local resources with global innovation to address social, economic, and ecological challenges, and expand its industrial potential through forms such as exhibitions to achieve sustainable development? The forum will also invite local craft communities to participate in depth, presenting case studies that illustrate how craft is being regenerated through global-local interplay. Through community collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the transmission of skills and values, craft is not only a continuation of local culture and a vehicle for global cultural circulation—it is also a crucial link for cooperation within global craft communities.

本次手工艺创新论坛以“Crafting Future”为主题，强调将“Craft”视为一种动态的“Crafting”过程，以一种持续的、充满变革的实践，连接过去、现在与未来。论坛将汇聚来自全球各地的手工艺专家、平台和机构负责人、设计师、策展人和手工艺人等，注入跨文化、跨学科的协作视角，围绕“全球视野与手工艺的未来趋势”、“产业转型与技术融合”、“社群与网络构建”、“在地文化与全球联动”四个板块展开深入讨论。Crafting Future——全球本地化的手工艺想象不仅是从全球角度思考本地实践的过程，对手工艺视为文化遗产或过去的反思，更是注重其作为未来社会的一种集体愿景和创新应用图景。论坛讨论将涵盖多重维度：如何通过手工艺的复兴，重新激活其造物观念与精神遗产，并带来新的文化想象？在全球资本、技术与设计的交织下，手工艺如何保持本土性和文化独特性，并找到在全球市场中的平衡点？数字技术和产业转型如何影响手工艺的本质，能否成为其焕发生命力的动力？手工艺如何结合地方资源与全球创新，回应社会、经济、生态挑战，并通过展览等形式拓展产业路径，实现可持续发展等……本次论坛还将邀请在地手工艺社群深度参与，呈现出手工艺如何在全球和本地联动中实现再生的案例切片。通过社群协作、知识共享和教育传承，手工艺不仅是本地文化的延续、全球流通的文化载体，也是全球手工艺社群协作的关键纽带。
